Worst Behavior Recs is releasing a new compilation LP, ‘Worst Behavior, Vol. 4’, next month. Have an exclusive first listen to bastiengoat’s ‘to a level where love is real’ below.

Founded in 2017 by DJs Anna Morgan and Bell Curve, NYC’s Worst Behavior Recs has become a crucial outpost for the global bass and breaks underground, with a policy of promoting new talent and encouraging experimentation. On the fourth instalment of their V/A compilation series, out 18th August, an international cohort of producers join the WBR ranks for a cross-pollinated celebration of bass and soundsystem culture.

Czech producer fodie j. kicks the release into gear with ‘Le Track’, which erupts with a flurry of eclectic rhythms, freewheeling pads, and bulbous low-end, before Oakland favourite bastiengoat returns with the squelchy follow-up to ‘Slurpee’, released on the ‘Worst Behavior Vol. 3’ compilation. Featuring a pitched-up R&B vocal fastened onto a punishing, acid-infused bassline, ‘to a level where love is real’ is a testament to the Bay Area’s panoptic approach to dance music.

LA’s Yunna — who just released her debut EP ‘Rinne’ on the label — expands the catalogue further with the ambient jungle energiser ‘She’s Gone Low’, while label co-founder and DJ Mag North America's Breakthrough DJ winner 2023 Anna Morgan links up with Kool Karlo for ‘Pop That’, a bubbly breaks cut with a ghettotech-inspired beat.

It’s joined on the compilation by new music from Freshmoon Records founder FreshtillDef, Hessle Audio affiliate Toumba, and DJ Mag Best Of British 2021 Breakthrough Producer winner Samurai Breaks, amongst others.
