Soul Mass Transit System are set to release a brand new EP, ‘Real Love’, later this month. Have an exclusive first listen to ‘Real Love (Mercy Mix)’ below.

Since launching Shall Not Fade’s Time Is Now sub-label with their ‘Original Bad Bwoy’ EP, D. Jason & Baby J have been wreaking havoc in the 2 step, speed garage, and breakbeat suite as Soul Mass Transit System.

On their devilish new ‘Real Love’ EP, set for release on 18th August, the pair return to Leeds UKG label, Gimme A Break Records with four cuts of killer tackle.

Thudding bass weight and menacing synth lines do all the heavy-lifting on breakbeat/UKG mongrel, ‘Wait No More’, while ‘Lovin Me’ cranks up the 2-stepping grooves with lustrous, high-def production that lends the EP a classic, timeless feel.

Over on the flip, ‘Real Love (Mercy Mix)’ is the duo at their most urgent, fusing dark speed garage textures with tightly-wound drums and trademark SMTS Reese bass for seven minutes of wobbly mayhem.

Lurking somewhere between organ house and summery UKG, ‘Fly’ rounds out the EP on a lighter tip. First featured in Main Phase’s viral Keep Hush set for ec2a in February 2022, the cut’s sunkissed synths and hummable hook have earned it ample comparisons to ‘B.O.T.A’, while cementing the duo as purveyors of both underground and mainstream UKG sounds.
