Deena Abdelwahed’s original score for the Tunisian play, Flagranti, will be released as an EP in February via the Shouka label. Listen to ‘Fête’ below.

The Toulouse-based, Tunisian DJ and producer’s score was written to accompany Essia Jaïbi’s groundbreaking theatrical work of queer fiction, which confronts the oppression and aggression faced by LGBTQI+ people in Tunisia today. Co-produced by Mawjoudin We Exist NGO, the play premiered in Tunisia last year, a first for a work of its kind in the country.

Like her previous releases, ‘Khonnar’ and ‘Dhakar’ on InFiné Music, the four tracks on Abdelwahed’s ‘Flagranti - Original Soundtrack’ are high-impact works that blend thundering percussion, maximal synth storms, elements of Arabic music, and experimental sound design. This result is a collection of fierce, impassioned club music with an appropriately dramatic reinforcement, which will sound as captivating on a dancefloor as it will on headphones or on stage.

‘Flagranti - Original Soundtrack’ will be released on 3rd February. Pre-order it here
