Roland are set to open their first "immersive" retail space in Japan this October.

Located in the city's Harajuku district, the Roland Store Tokyo follows the opening of Roland's new London store and showroom last year, and comprises three levels; synths and DJ-related projects on the first, digital pianos on the second, and Roland V-Drums kits and BOSS brand products on the third. Appointments with Roland product specialists are also available.

The aim of the Roland Store Tokyo in Harajuku is to reach "as many music lovers as possible" and to offer "visitors a genuine experience of connecting with our products and culture in an intimate environment," according to Roland CEO Gordon Raison.

The Roland Store Tokyo opens its doors on 1st October 2023. Find more info about the store here.

Yesterday (8th August), we reported that Roland is auctioning a one-of-a-kind 808 BMX Bike to mark this year's 808 Day.

The brand also celebrated its 50th birthday last year with the launch of a new website showcasing some of their most iconic pieces of gear from the past five decades.

DJ Mag Tech recently spoke to two Roland users and collaborators — musician Ken Ishii and artist/designer Yuri Suzuki — to reflect on the company's game-changing trajectory. Read the feature here
